Analysis Of Job Burnout And Intervention For Professional Project Designers

As job burnout is an important problem in the occupational mental health field, we reviewed the production and development of this concept in this paper, while listing and comparing a variety of theoretical model of job burnout, as well as a variety of job burnout measurement tool based on them. In the survey study, the researcher selected the professional project designers of Shanghai Post and Telecommunication Planning and Designing Institute Company Limited as a sample, using Maslach Burnout Inventory General Survey, and got the general situation of job burnout of them. Meanwhile, the demographic information and coping style data were also collected, with which we only revealed the relations between the dimensions of job burnout and factors such as gender, age, duration of job and so on, but also proved that job burnout has a positive correlation with the using of immature coping styles, and has a negative correlation with the using of mature coping styles. This result laid the foundation of the following intervention. In the intervention, the researcher designed an integrated program based on sandplay, and applied it to 3 subjects. The program included pre-interview, sandplay, interview focused on sandplay and daily life, and summary and sharing interview. The overall idea of the program is to relax the subjects by sandplay, and to use cognitive counseling techniques to improve the cognitive coping styles in order to reduce the extent burnout. When the intervention program is completed, the post-test results of the subjects and experimental control group showed that the subjects' the coping styles were significantly improved, and their burnout levels decreased significantly; while no significant change happened to the control group. So it's proved that this integrated program based on sandplay has the value of application and popularization.
