Lung cancer is one kind of malignant tumors with highest morbidity and mortality and worst prognosis. According to the recent research, the morbidity and mortality of female lung cancer increased evidently. In the 11th world lung cancer conference in Barcelona 2005, the concept of female lung cancer was proposed. The damage to the female health caused by lung cancer have been emphasized. So the prevention and treatment of lung cancer have become one of the most important public health problems of our country at present and future, especially the female lung cancer. But the risk factor and clinical characteristics of female lung cancer were not well known. So we retrospectively investigated and analyzed the the risk factor and clinical characteristics of female lung cancer in this paper. We hope it will propose the theory basis for the early prevention and treatment of female lung cancer. All 386 cases of female lung cancer were collected from the thoracic department of china-japan union hospital from 2005 to 2009. All were diagnosed by thoracic image examination and pathologic or cytologic examination. All the 350 cases of the control group were randomly selected in the same district, the same age(±3 years) and non-smoke female. The common characters(age, nation, culture level) and family history, thoracic disease history, smoking history, second-hand smoking history of the two groups were retrospectively analyzed by using the Epi Info(6.04) software. The statistic analysis was done bye SAS software to find the risk factors and the odds ratio. The common characteristics of the two groups had no significant difference. Smoking history had no significant relation to lung cancer. The second-hand smoking history had significant relation to lung cancer, especially the second-hand smoking in family. The lung disease history had significant relation to lung cancer, especially the pulmonary tuberculosis history. The family history of malignant tumors had significant relation to lung cancer. We also retrospectively analyzed the clinical characteristics of the 386 case of female lung cancer. The age of episode was from 50 to 69, especially form 50 to 59. The most of female lung cancer were peripheral type, located in the right side. Adenocarcinoma was common and advanced stage was common, especially stageⅢ. With the progress of the disease, distant metastasis was common. The symptoms included cough, chest pain, dyspnea, Hemoptysis. The female lung cancer was easily misdiagnosed and missed diagnosed. It was often misdiagnosed as pulmonary tuberculosis, pneumonia, tuberculosis pleurisy. The multimodality treatment was recommended for female lung cancer and surgery was the mainstay of treatment. The pre-surgery new adjuvant chemotherapy and targeted therapy were recommended.Although several risk factors were found, the epidemic features of female lung cancer were not explained very well. Maybe several other risk factors were not found. By analyzing the the characteristics of female lung cancer, it will increas the prevention and treatment. According to our research, the discipline of"precaution first"must be obeyed. If we want to decrease the morbidity and improve the survival of female lung cancer, we must improve the work environment of femal, increase the social and family level of female.
