Objective:To observe the clinical effect of the Jiebiao Hewei Decoction in relieving hot wind cold with indigestion symptom in children.Design and Method:Cold is a common disease, generally caused by exposure to wind or as a fashionable virus. Clinically, they are often divided into cool wind, hot wind, summer heat, and dampness cold. Because of its physiological characteristics, children often tend to have stagnation, startling, and phlegm, all symptoms at the same period of time.The indigestion is common. Clinically, because hot wind cold symptom is often seen, this research focuses on observation of hot wind cold with the indigestion symptom in the pediatric ward. This study of infantile hot wind cold with indigestion symptoms was done in accordance with the standard diagnosing method of Western and Chinese Medicine. The group of 40 patients was divided into 2 groups, group given treatment, and the control group, each with 20 patients.Treatment group: Relieving the exterior and normalizing the stomach decoction (white honeysuckle flower 10g, weeping forsythia 10g, peppermint 6g, phragmites communis 30g, purple perilla leaves 10g, shavings of the stalk of henon or other bamboo used in Chinese medicine 10g, French pinellia 6g, white nutmeg 3g, Chinese hawthorn 10g) adjust the formula in accordance to the patient's syndrome.Control group:Wang shi Baochi pill and Kanggan Heji. To bring down a fever and etc, giving fluid infusion is necessity for the treatment. Three days after the first treatment course, contrast of the patients'clinical symptoms before and after the treatment, also other factors that effected the treatment were taken into account.Results:Treatment group showed more improvement in the main symptoms such as fever, pharynx redness, abdominal distension, etc, than the control group, the improvement of constipation in treatment group was better than control group, where it was not evident. Secondary symptoms such as sensitivity to cold, runny nose showed improvement in both control and treatment group. The cure and effective rate was 75% of the treatment group, and was 30% of the control group, the difference of the two groups of curative effect (P<0.05).Conclusion:The results indicate that clinical aspects of the Jiebiao Hewei Decoction, in treating children with hot wind cold and indigestion symptoms, improved dramatically. Therefore, this research for treating pediatric hot wind cold is advantageous in opening up new treatment aspect:The key is to relieve the exterior, and to expell the evil, to relieve stomach is also similarly essential in resolving stasis.
