Objective:The aim of this study was to evaluate the oral health (plaque,Gingivitis) outcomes of a school-based oral health intervention programme amongst primary school children aged-7-12 years.The programme comprised three integral components,Which is Oral Health Education(OHE) as curriculum,the Bass method,the plaque-controled. Sieve the eligible oral health intervention in Zunyi City. Evaluate more suitable standard of oral epidemiological study for primary level.Methods:The school-based oral health intervention programme was applied to primary schoolchildren aged-7-12 years 327 volunteers by stratified sampling methods in 3 experimental and 1 control schools in Zunyi City. and then randomly divided into 4 groups,Which is Intervention group A(OHE as curriculum), Interventiongroup B(OHE as curriculum+the Bass method), Intervention group C(OHE as curriculum+the Bass method+ plaque-controled),Control group D(No Intervention). The teaching material is instituted by Department of Preventive and Pediatric Dentistry, Hospital of Stomatology, Zunyi Medical College itself. It is to print by Bereau of education.Intervention groups should to attend class, anterior-posterior OHE, It is to carry out questionnaire survey and examination of periodontal health. Q-H plaque index (Q-H) and Gingivitis Index (GI) were compared between four groups.Results:Rate of GI is 57.49%.There were no significant differences for plaque index (except gingival index) among groups before intervention (P<0.05), the baseline was comparable. Q-H plaque index:The comparison among four groups:there were highly significant differences of the plaque index among the four groups after intervention(P<0.05). Rate of dental plaque is from 77%to 53%. Questionnaire survey:Rate of the Oral health knowledge is from 39% to 66%. It is to twice toothbrushing/day from 48.68% to 62.34%.Conclusion:The fingdings of the study shows:rate of gingivitis of aged-7-12 years in Zunyi City is higher,oral health statas is lower, Oral health knowledge is poverty. A school-based oral health intervention programme which has Oral Health Education(OHE) as curriculum,the Bass method,the plaque-controled by myself is effective provement of periodontal status, Q-H plaque index is most valid and more suitable standard of oral epidemiological study for primary level.
