Objective in this study, by measuring High sensitive C-reactive protein (hs-CRP), Monocyte Chemoattract Protein-1 (MCP-1), brachial-ankle Pulse Wave Velocity (baPWV), Ankle-Brachial Index (ABI) levels in subclinical atherosclerosis patients, analyse the relationship between these indicators and sub-clinical atherosclerosis and investigate their clinical value. Methods In accordance with carotid artery intima-media thickness CIMT),106 cases of medical patients were divided into healthy control group (20 patients), IMT thickening group (45 patients), plaque group (41 patients). Record three groups patients age, sex, height, weight, waist circumference, hip circumference, blood pressure and blood biochemical parameters (mainly glucose, creatinine, ALT,AST,TC, TQ LDL-C, HDL-C). And to use automatic atherosclerosis detector VP-1000 Determination of PWV and ABI, while application of double-antibody sandwich enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay determination of MCP-1 levels. Results (1)The plaque group and intimal thickening group of MCP-1, baPWV was significantly higher than healthy control group, and the plaque group were significantly higher than that intimal thickening group, three groups comparison was significant (P<0.05). Plaque group and intimal thickening group TC, LDL-C levels higher than the healthy control group and there is statistically significant (P<0.05), the remaining indicators (TG, HDL-C, ABI, creatinine, glucose) between the two groups comparison were not statistically significant (P> 0.05). (2)Correlation analysis showed that MCP-1 and the baPWV was positively associated (r=0.451 and P<0.01), but showed no correlation with the ABI. MCP-1 was correlated positively with TC (r= 0.312, P<0.01), LDL-C (r=0.374 and P<0.01), SBP (r=0.303 and P<0.01). PWV was correlated positively with SBP (r=0.39 and P<0.01), glucose (r=0.202 and P<0.01), LDL-C (r =0.231 and P<0.01), heart rate (r=0.197 and P<0.01).Conclusions Large artery elasticity has been reduced in subclinical atherosclerosis stage, baPWV can be used as predictors of atherosclerosis in patients or patients with coronary artery disease. MCP-1 involved in the development of early atherosclerosis, MCP-1 may be an earlier indicator of response to artery wall inflammation than the hs-CRP. Joint Determination of MCP-1 in peripheral blood and non-invasive baPWV testing will be more beneficial to find subclinical atherosclerosis patients from the surface health of populations and thus early diagnosis and early intervention.
