Clinical And Experimental Study Of Sangqin Qingfei Decoction In Treating Pneumonia Due To Accumulation Of Phlegm And Heat In The Lungs

Objective: To study the clinical effects and mechanism of Sangqin Qingfei Decoction (SQQFD) in treating pneumonia due to accumulation of phlegm and heat in the lungs. Methods: Eighty cases of pneumonia due to accumulation of phlegm and heat in the lungs were randomly divided into control group (40 cases, treated with conventional western therapy (CWT)) and test group (40 cases, treated with CWT plused SQQFD).Symptoms,signs , X-ray and blood analyses of each group were observed before and after treatment.The changes of serum interleukin-2 (IL-2) and tumor necrosis factor-a (TNF-a) were tested. We observed the therapeutic effect of SQQFD and Maxing Shigan Decoction (MXSGD) on the respiratory symptoms of experimental animals. Results:SQQFD could improve clinical symptoms of patients obviously and the total effective rate was 97.50%, while the control group was 90.00%. Symptoms,signs,X-ray, blood analyses, serum IL-2 and TNF-a of each group were greatly improved.Compared with those of the pre-therapy and the control group respectively, the difference was significant. The animal experiments showed that both SQQFD and MXSGD could obviously lighten the respiratory symptoms of experimental animals.Conclusions:SQQFD is obviously effective on the treatment of pneumonia due to accumulation of phlegm and heat in the lungs.The effect may be achieved through the operation of promoting the immunization, antiinflammatory, stop-coughing and eliminating phlegm.
