Allergic rhinitis is an allergic reaction of the nasal mucosa resulting from the bodily hypersensitivity to some allergens. This disease pertains to the category of nasal obstruction and sneeze in traditional chinese medicine. AR is a common hypersensitivity disease, and classified into perennial and seasonal. Perennial AR can break out possibly at any time without the season variety, in seasonal change or the weather changes more easily. Western medicine have clear cause on AR, with a series of treatment:drug therapy, immune therapy, surgical therapy and physical therapy, etc. By whatever means, it's difficult to effect a radical cure and may cause adverse reactions. It seems that Chinese Medicine have more advantages on method and the curative effect. However, for items of categorical identification are numerous and operation is complex there exists great difficult in carrying out, most hospital mainly based on Western Medicine. It is to be regretted that CM has lost its advantages and that will have great significance to explore a simple and effective treatment. Objective:To observe the clinical efficacy of the joint usage of Guizhi Decoction and external application of Chinese medicine for treatment of perennial allergic rhinitis by clinical small-sample randomised controlled trial. Methods:To select the patients with perennial allergic rhinitis who meet the criteria from DongGuan Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine(TCM), and divide them 1:1 into treatment group and control group by simple random method. According to exclusion criteria, there are all 60 cases included, of which 30 cases compose treatment group, the rest 30 cases compose the control group. After one course of treatment(28 days) and 3 months follow-up, by observing the two groups of the score of clinical symptoms to evaluate the clinical effect and explore comparative study. To establish the database and then take statistical analysis with SPSS16.0. To analyze numerical variable with t test, categorical variable with X2 test and correction X2 test (or the exact probability method), ranked data with rank sum test. The test standard a is 0.05 and to take Bilateral test. Results:After treatment, score of the two groups were reduced significantly when compared with that before treatment. There was no significant difference in accumulated score between treated group and control group after one course of treatment(p=0.057>0.05). After a follow-up period of 3 month, there was significant difference between the two groups(p=0.014<0.05). One course of treatment later, the efficiency rate of treatment group is 63.33%, which was significantly superior to that of control group(40%); After 3 months follow-up, the efficiency rate of treatment group is 40%, which was significantly superior to that of control group(20.00%).Conclusion:The joint usage of Guizhi decoction and external application of Chinese medicine is a simple and effective method of treating perennial allergic rhinitis. The method could effectively relieve the clinical symptoms, improve health conditions, has the great advantage in preventing the recurrence especially.
