It is Also called "frozen shoulder" and "50 shoulder", "leak shoulder wind", "coagulation shoulder", "shoulder coagulation disorder", belong to "blockage syndrome" in TCM. It is totally due to catching wind cold and damp-heat evil or dropping, so that the meridian is damaged and qi is blocked, and then get pain. The disease is a common and frequent disease in older adults. The ratio of men and women is about 1:1.26,8% to 10% of the adult incidence. Tt most happens in winter and spring. The clinical expression are basically pain and dysfunction, secondly muscle atrophy. Clinical treatment method of Scapulohumeral periarthritis is very diversiform, such as gimmick, function exercise, medicine, acupuncture, acupotomology, physiotherapy, meridian and joint lumen injection and surgery, each kind of treatments can obtain certain curative effect, but also has certain limitation, acupuncture reflects a great superiority because its curative effect is distinct, and it is easy to accept but without side effects in the treatment of this disease. The most important and the most direct effect of Acupuncture is clear the meridians. Chinese medicine theory pionts out that "It is the obstruction that causes the pain", Scapulohumeral periarthritis is due to a variety of causes of blockade of meridian and qi, which causes the shoulder pain and limitation of activities. So should free the collateral vessels and adjust its qi and blood by acupuncture.《Qian Jin Fang》said:" Diseases are all caused by blockade of blood and qi, acupuncture can clear it and moxibustion is to worm it." According to the pathogenesis and the TCM rule of "no blockade no pain" "treat cold with heat" and "treat deficiency by tonification", this study employs acupoints through thorn method to treat scapulohumeral periarthritis, and common acupuncture as comparison, points to observe the curative effect of the treatment on the disease by acupoints through thorn.Methods:60 patients who met the inclusion criteria were divided into treatment group and control group according to the order that first to diagnosis and random number table method. Both groups were 30 cases and treated with the point Jianyu. Jianzhen. Jianliao. The treatment group were treated with Huatuo brand disposable sterile acupuncture needles (filiform needle of 28mm x 75mm or 28 mm x90mm) by points through thorn method, from Jianyu to Jiquan, Jianzhen to Jiquan and Jianliao to Jiquan, chosed rotating the needle with reducing method when the qi arrived, turned the needle every five minutes and retained the needles for 30 minutes; The control group selected Huatuo brand no.28 filiform needle of 40mm, used ordinary acupuncture therapy, the acupuncture point and syndrome differentiation are the same as treatment group, made the needle get to the specified depth and get the qi without electricity, rotated the needle with reducing method every 5 minutes and retained the needles for 30 minutes. Both groups acupunctured every other day,3 times for a treatment, 3 treatments. Before and after the treatment, to classify patients'experience of pain, shoulder symptoms, sign by McGill simplified pain scale wiht visual analogy pain score method (VAS),and evaluate the clinical curative effect. Results:The research results show that both treatments for scapulohumeral periarthritis have clearly curative effect. Based on the shoulder pain VAS integral, shoulder symptoms score, shoulder signs integral, clinical efficacy evaluation, etc, the results show that:Both ways can alleviate pain and improve the shoulder joint activities and grading of shoulder functions, but the Meridians Through Thorn Treatment group is obviously better than the ordinary acupuncture group.Conclusion:Meridians through thorn treatment for scapulohumeral periarthritis is safe, simple, effective, is worthy to be currently used.
