ObjectiveTo investigate the therapeutic effect of using the method of Erjian bloodletting and acupuncture, and discuss its mechanism initiallyMethods60 qualified patients were randomly divided into treatment group (Erjian bloodletting and acupuncture) and control group (traditional acupuncture). According to VAS Standards for International Medicine, our study was designed to observe the effect of treating migraine headache with Erjian bloodletting and acupuncture, and the traditional acupuncture prescription as the control group. In a word, the degree of pain was observed before and after the treatment of both groups. The change was then assessed to determine the effect of the treatment.ResultsTested by chi-square test and inspection (P>0.05), the baseline informations of the two groups patients before and after treatment are comparable. After two months'treatment, the frequency, levels,,duration and accompanied syndromes of the headache that both groups were improved to those before treatment. The levels of headache of the treatment group was declined obviously, and had statistical significance that compared to that before treatment (P<0.05), while the control group was not decreased as obviously as the treatment group. As the treatment group, the improvement of frequency, levels, duration and accompanied syndromes of headache were superior to the control group, the difference was statistically significant (P< 0.05).Compared with total curative effect of headache between two groups, the treatment group had a total effective rate of 96.7%, composing of 14 clinical recovered patients,12 much more effective patients,3 effective patients and 1 ineffective patient. The control group had a total effective rate of 86.7%, composing of 8 clinical recovered patients,11 much more effective patients, 7 effective patients and 4 ineffective patients (P<0.05).ConclusionsTreating migraine headache with Erjian bloodletting and acupuncture significantly could reduced the level of pain, which proved that this method improved the clinical symptom.
