ObjectiveThis study is designed to find out which is a more effective and feasible treatment for patients who are first diagnosed essential hypertension with overabundant liver-fire by observing and comparing two groups of patients’ immediate, short-term and medium-term blood pressure change and short-term and medium-term TCM symptom change, by applying two different treatments repectively to two groups-one is to take a certain kind of antihypertensive only while the other is to take the same antihypertensive as well as to have erjian(EX-HN6) bloodletting therapy.MethodsBased on the principle of randomized controlled trial,60 volunteers who meet the inclusive criteria are randomly devided into western medicine group(30 volunteers) and erjian bloodletting with western medicine group(30 volunteers). In the western medicine group, patients are required to take one tablet of Nifedipine controlled realease tablet(30mg/tablet) every morning after getting up once a day(totally eight 7-day courses of treatments). In the erjian bloodletting with western medicine group, patients were treated with erjian bloodletting therapy once every other day (totally four 7-day courses of treatments) right after taking 30mg Nifedipine controlled realease tablet every morning after getting up once a day(totally eight 7-day courses of treatments, the same with the western group). The curative effect of two different treatments for patients who are first diagnosed essential hypertension with overabundant liver-fire is objectively evaluated by observing and comparing two groups of patients’immediate, short-term and medium-term blood pressure change and short-term and medium-term TCM symptom change during the study with statistical analysis(SPSS 22.0).ResultsThere is no significant statistical difference(p>0.05) between western medicine group and er jian bloodletting with western medicine group in gender ratio, age distribution, hypertension classification, hypertension risk strata and basal blood pressure, which means that the two groups are comparable. There is a very significant statistical difference(p<0.01) between two groups in the decrease of blood pressure(more in erjian bloodletting with western medicine group) 5min,15min,30min right after treatments; there is no significant statistical difference(p>0.05) between two groups in the decrease of blood pressure 60min,120min right after treatments. In erjian bloodletting with western medicine group, there is a significant statistical difference(p<0.05) between the days with erjian bloodletting therapy and the days without it in the decrease of blood pressure (more in the days with erjian bloodletting therapy) 5min,15min,30min right after treatments; there is no significant statistical difference(p>0.05) between the days with erjian bloodletting therapy and the days without it in the decrease of blood pressure 60min,120min right after treatments. There is a very significant statistical difference(p<0.01) between two groups in the decrease of blood pressure(more in erjian bloodletting with western medicine group) after a 4-week treatment, an 8-week treatment and 8 weeks after the end of treatments. There is no significant statistical difference(p>0.05) between two groups in the curative effect for essential hypertension with overabundant liver-fire after a 4-week treatment; there is a significant statistical difference (p<0.05) between two groups in the curative effect for essential hypertension with overabundant liver-fire (better in erjian bloodletting with western medicine group) after an 8-week treatment and 8 weeks after the end of treatments. There is a very significant statistical difference(p<0.01) between two groups in the curative effect for TCM symptoms of overabundant liver-fire (better in erjian bloodletting with western medicine group) after a 4-week treatment, an 8-week treatment and 8 weeks after the end of treatments. In erjian bloodletting with western medicine group, respectively comparing the total points of TCM symptoms before treaments and after a 4-week treatment, an 8-week treatment and 8 weeks after the end of treatments, there is a very significant statistical difference(p<0.01); in western medicine group, there is a very significant statistical difference(p<0.01) between the total points of TCM symptoms before treaments and after a 4-week treatment, an 8-week treatment, and a significant statistical difference(p<0.05) between the total points of TCM symptoms before treaments and 8 weeks after the end of treatments. There is a very significant statistical difference(p<0.01) between two groups both in the first time of improvement of TCM symptoms (earlier in erjian bloodletting with western medicine group) and in the first time of relapse of TCM symptoms(earlier in western medicine group).Conclusion①Both taking Nifedipine controlled realease tablet only and erjian bloodletting with Nifedipine controlled realease tablet have curative effect on the short-term and medium-term blood pressure for essential hypertension with overabundant liver-fire, and erjian bloodletting with western medicine group is superior to western medicine group.②Erjian bloodletting with western medicine group, which has better timeliness and more decrease of blood pressure, is superior to western medicine group in patients’immediate blood pressure regulation.③Erjian bloodletting therapy, which is much more effective, has obvious and more long-lasting curative effect on the improvement of TCM symptoms for essential hypertension with overabundant liver-fire; only taking Nifedipine controlled realease tablet has poor curative effect on the improvement of TCM symptoms and is much less effective, and patients’TCM symptoms are easier to relapse.④Erjian bloodletting therapy has a good cumulative effect on the regulation of blood pressure and the improvement of TCM symptoms.⑤Erjian bloodletting therapy with antihypertensive, which has a good effect on patients’immediate, short-term, medium-term blood pressure regulation and short-term, medium-term TCM symptom change, and prognosis, is feasible, convenient and has little side effect. It is worthy of being applied in clinic for patients who are first diagnosed essential hypertension with overabundant liver-fire.
