Objective:To assess prevalence and distribution of psychiatric disorders among 6-17 year olds in Liaoning province.Objects and Methods:1.Objects:Stratified multipl-stage,Probability proportion to size(PPS) and Cluster sampling were used to identify 3 cities(Shenyang, Benxi, Dandong) and 3countries(Qingyuan, Zhangwu, Donggang).Using a two-phase design,9231 children aged 6-17 were interviewed by the Stregth and Difficulty Questionnaire (SDQ) and Development and Well-Being Assessment(DAWBA).2.Methods:First phase, screening papers were sent to adolescents aged 11-years above,parents,teachers of adolescent aged 6-17.According to the scores in SDQ,it was divided into two parts:screening positive sample and negative sample.Second phase,screening positive sample and 11.3% of negative sample were interviewed by Development and Well-Being Assessment along with the whole positive sample.For calculation children and adolescents mental disorders prevalence in Liaoning prevalence, to weighting for the second phase of the data sample.Using logistic regression calculation sample weight(to whether attend interview-based as dependent variable, In SDQ screening results, age, gender and urban and rural areas as independent variables),Using the complex samples module calculate prevalence.Results:In the first phase,8488 questionnaire were recovery and qualify rate was 90.57%. The respond rate of adolescent, parent, teacher was 90.57%,86.26%,89.97% separately.13.4% were screening positive.A second phase sample of 1865 was identified for recruitment into the interview phase of the study with a respond rate of adolescent 94.36%, parent79.41%, teacher92.45%.The prevalence of psychiatric disorders among adolescent in Liaoning province is 4.05%. The rate of city(4.21%) was higher than cou-ntry(3.90%),but there were no significant differences. Psychiatric disorders were significantly more frequent in boys (5.10%) than in girls(3.06%), and were significantly more frequent in 11-14 year olds(5.34%), and next was 15-17 year olds(4.24%),6-10 year olds(2.45%). Anxiety disorders(2.23%) are more than other disorders, followed by depressive disorder(0.93%), attention deficit hyperactivity disorder(0.48%), behavioral disorder(0.29%). Of the 329 Liaoning children with any DSM-â…¥psychiatric disorder,11 children(3.3%) had diagnoses from more than one of the three broad diagnostic categories(anxiety disorders, depressive disorder, behavioral disorder). Anxiety disorders with depressive disorders or (and) destructive behavior was 5.8%, depressive disorders with anxiety disorders or (and) destructive behavior have 11.4%, destructive behavior barrier with anxiety disorders or (and) depressive disorders are 3.1%. There was a significant direct link between anxiety disorders and depressive disorders(odds ratio=47.1), follow by depressive disorders and behavior disorders(odds ratio=13.8), anxiety disorders and behavior disorders(odds ratio=13.1).Conclusion:The prevalence of psychiatric disorders among adolescents in Liaoning province is 4.05%, close in Singapore,India, Japan. No significant difference was observed between city and country, disorders were significantly more frequent in boys than girls, and were significantly more frequent in 11-15 year olds. All mental disorders in the highest prealence of anxiety disorders (2.23%), followed by depressive disorders (0.93%), attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (0.29%), behavioural disorders 0.48%. The comorbidity(anxiety disorders, depressive disorder, behavioral disorder) of psychiatric disorders among adolescents in Liaoning probince is3.3%.
