Phase 3 Clinical Study On Treatment Of Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus Diagnosed Deficiency Of Yin And Excessive Heat Syndrome With Tablet Of Total Flavonoids From Anemarrhena Asphodeloides Bge

Tablet of total flavonoids from Anemarrhena asphodeloides Bge is a new Chinese medicine. It is going a clinic trail confirmed by SFDA. This essay would try to investigate and discuss the efficacy and safety of tablet of total flavonoids from Anemarrhena asphodeloides Bge in treating type 2 diabetes mellitus diagnosed deficiency of Yin and excessive heat syndrome.Objective: To investigate the efficacy of tablet of total flavonoids from Anemarrhena asphodeloides Bge in treating patients with type 2 DM and to evaluate its safety.Methods: A randomized, double-blind, parallel-controlled trail was performed in sixty-four type 2 DM diagnosed deficiency of Yin and excessive heat syndrome. We chose Pioglitazone tablet as the positive controlled drug. Among these patients, forty-eight patients were divided into the tablet of total flavonoids from Anemarrhena asphodeloides Bge group and the other sixteen patients into control group randomly. Sixty-three patients finished the whole trail. All patients were treated for 12 weeks. The clinical symptoms were observed and the blood glucose was tested every two weeks. The levels of HbA_1c and serum lipid were tested both before and 12 weeks after starting the treatment to evaluate the efficacy of tablet of total flavonoids from Anemarrhena asphodeloides Bge.Results: The results showed the tablet of total flavonoids from Anemarrhena asphodeloides Bge could improve clinical symptoms and could obviously reduce the level of blood glucose, HbA_1c and triglyceride, which showed no statistical significance compared with control group.Conclusion:Tablet of total flavonoids from Anemarrhena asphodeloides Bge is an effective Chinese medicine in treating type 2 diabetes mellitus diagnosed deficiency of Yin and excessive heat syndrome. No adverse reaction is observed.
