Object:To investigate community nurses'job satisfaction and stability in the city of Changsha. to explore the related factors and the relationship between job satisfaction and stability. The results are considered to provide evidence for future policy to improve the community nurses' job satisfaction and stability, and theory formation of community nurses' management. The survey is to promote the development of the community nursing.Methods:Fifty eight communities of the city of Changsha were selected by the random sampling. All nurse worked in these community were recruited in the survey, and the sample number of nurse was 283. the questionnaire used in the survey included the demographic information, the job satisfaction sale(JSS) and the nurses' stability scale(NSS). The collected data were analyzed by SPSS 13.0. Descriptive analysis, independent -samples t-test, one-way ANOVA, wilcoxon rank sum test and Pearson analysis were used.Results:1. Two hundreds and eighty three community nurses from 58 communities in the city of Changsha participated in the survey, and 283 questionnaires were hand out. 270 valid questionnaires were got and the response rate was 95.4%.2. The community nurses' score of all the job satisfaction scale dimensions ranked by descending order were: the personal relationship(3.64±0.50), job trait(3.26±0.53),leadership and management(3.18±0.59), work condition(2.86±0.57), pay and welfare(2.57±0.74) and training and promotion(2.50±0.58).the nurses' job satisfaction was different with work years, education background, occupation title, monthly income, type of employment, position, marriage state and the status that whether the nurse like the job or not(P<0.05).there was no significant difference in age3. the community nurses' score of all the job stability scale dimensions ranked by descending order were: work environment(3.37±0.57), leadership and management(3.34±0.69), job trait (3.25±0.60 ) , occupation development (2.95±0.75), wedge and welfare(2.86±0.86). the community nurses' job stability was different with occupation title, monthly income, position, the status that whether the nurse like the job or not and the time that the nurse will be stay in the job. No significant difference was found between different age, work years and education background. 4. The community nurses' job satisfaction had a positive relationship with job stability that meant more satisfactory was the nurse to the job, more willing she /he was to stay in the job. Conclusion:1. All dimensions of community nurses'job satisfaction scale were not satisfactory, training and promotion was the lest dissatisfactory dimension. pay and welfare was the second dissatisfactory.2. The related factors of community nurses' job satisfaction are:work years, education background, occupation title, monthly income, type of employment, position, marriage state and the status that whether the nurse like the job or not.3. Community nurses'job stability in the city of Changsha was in the low level.the lowest deminsion was pay and welfare and the second one was occupation development.4. The related factors of community nurses' job stability are:occupation title, monthly income, position, the status that whether the nurse like the job or not and the time that the nurse will be stay in the job.5. The community nurses'job satisfaction had a positive relationship with job stability.
