Application Of Enteral Nutrition In Preoperative Bowel Preparation For Patients With Colorectal Carcinoma

Objective:To investigate the application of enteral nutrition in preoperative bowel preparation for Patients with colorectal carcinoma.Methods: 64 patients with colorectal carcinoma were randomized into study group and control group.32 patients in the study group(EN group) were applied with Fresubin a kind of liquid diet in preoperative bowel preparation.32 patients in the control group(traditional therapy group) were given traditional liquid diet for bowel preparation.The changes of nutritional parameters,satisfactory of colon cleaning,occurrence of adverse effect and complication were observed.Results:The satisfactory of colon-cleaning were good in two groups. There were no significant difference in both groups (P>0.05).The times of intestinal lavage in the EN group (6.23±1.47) were significantly fewer than those in the control group(11.23±2.13,P<0.01).In the study group,there was one nausea case;two abdominal pain abdominal distention cases;no palpitation,dizziness,and vomiting case.There were two dizziness,palpita- tion cases;nine nausea,vomiting cases;twelve abdominal pain abdominal distention cases and one acute intestinal obstruction case.The frequencies of adverse events were significantly higher than study group.Post-operative of rate of infection and anastomotic leakage were lower than the control group,but the differences were not significant (p>0.05).There were signi- ficant difference in recovery time of intestinal function(p<0.01).In the study group, W,BMI,and GS were superior to the control group (P<0.05),but there were no changes between preoperative bowel preparation and after bowel preparation in AMC and TSF.In the study group and control group, the levels of TP and ALB on the third day of post-operation were signi- ficantly lower than that before bowel preparation (P<0.01).The levels of TP and ALB in control group decrease higher than those in the study group (P<0.01).Compared with the study group, there were significant differences between preoperative bowel preparation and after bowel preparation in electrolyte (P<0.01).The changes of total HB,ALT,AST,BUN,Cr before preoperative bowel preparation and post-operation in the study group had no significant difference compared with what in the control group (P>0.05), but there were differences in lymphocyte count (P<0.01).Conclusion: Enteral nutrition could be applied to the preoperation bowel preparation and replace the traditional liquid diet.As a simple way, it can make the colon clear ,improve the nutrition status of the patients and decrease the post-operative complication.
