Objective: Application of Compound Angelica Parenteral Solution for point injection to alleviate pain during labor, shorten the first stage of labor and accelerate the second stage of labor, as well as to evaluate the safety of mothers and neonates, for the clinical search for a simple, safe, effective and cheap method of labor analgesia.Material and methods: Select 120 cases hospitalized puerperal of the Second Affiliated Hospital of Fujian University of Traditional Chinese Medicine from January 2008 to November 2008, Were randomly divided into Compound Angelica Injection group (referred to as "Angelica group"), Sterile Water for Injection group (referred to as "Water-acupuncture group"), and the Control group take the method of breath to alleviate pain during labor, each group contain 40 cases. When the three groups the cervix expansion 3 ~ 4cm using visual analogue score (Visual Analogue Scale, VAS) method to measure the three groups the extend of the pain score, and analysis three groups of women active phase, the second stage of labor, the third stage of labor, mode of delivery, postpartum hemorrhage, neonate after 1 minute Apgar score, evaluation the acupoint injection safety, effectiveness, etc. Results: (1) Compared to the control group, the angelica group and the water-acupuncture group, we find that the levels of VAS pain during labor, there were significant differences (P values were <0.05), after Ciliao point injection analgesia. The study also find that after analgesia 30 minutes the range of the pain reduce is biggest. And in the acupoint injection 2hours and 1hour after analgesia, the degrees of the pain reduced had no significant(P value> 0.05). The results show Ciliao point injection can significantly reduce labor pain, the pain within 30 minutes to reduce the most obvious, the degree of the pain of the range is smaller, and there is a trend to increase of the level the pain, That is, the effect of alleviate parturition pain is diminish.(2)Angelica group compare with water-acupuncture group the degrees of the pain by VAS, at various time periods after analgesic, there were significant differences (P values were <0.05), indicating that the effect of the angelica group to alleviate pain during labor better than the water-acupuncture group. (3) Compared to the control group, the angelica group and the water-acupuncture group, we find that the differences of active phase, second stage of labor were significant significance (P value were<0.05). (4) Three sets of the third stage of labor, two hours postpartum maternal bleeding, delivery mode, and the neonate born 1 minute by Apgar score with no significance in statistic meaning (P value> 0.05); (5) At active phase, second stage of labor the angelica group compared with the water-acupuncture group, there were no significant difference (P value> 0.05).Conclusion: Compound Angelica Parenteral Solution acupoint injection can significantly alleviate pain during labor, shorten the first stage of labor, as well as accelerate the second stage of labor, does not affect the third stage of labor, and not increase the incidence of postpartum hemorrhage and operative delivery rate of maternal, not negative effect for mothers and neonates.
