| Object:The study adopt the prospective case-control study method to observe the clinical effects of herbal medicine in Southern China on acute twisted ankle contusion,which is composed of Jieshang Decotion for oral taken,as well as Jieshang San for external use.Method:In this study,clinical randomized controlled trial method was used. 60 cases of qualified patients who were suffered from acute twisted ankle contusion were selected from Foshan hospital of TCM and randomly divided into two groups.The patients of the treatment group were treated by the herbal medicine in Southern China,which is composed of Jieshang Decotion for oral taken,as well as Jieshang Powder for external use.The patients of the control group were treated by some useful methods which had been used for a long time, which is composed of Taohongsiwu Decotion for oral taken,as well as Haitongpi Decotion for external use.The symptoms and signs of the two groups were observed before treatment,4,7,10 and 14 days after treatment,which were described by scores.The scores were compared and the efficiency and adverse reactions were analyzed.Result:1.There is no significant difference between treatment group and control group on the clinical symptomatic scores after 4 days and 7 days treatment(P>0.05),but there is significant difference on such scores after 10 days and 14 days treatment(P<0.01).2.There is no significant difference between treatment group and control group on the functional scores after 4 days and 7 days treatment(P>0.05),but there is significant difference on such scores after i0 days and 14 days treatment (P<0.01).3.The external herbal medicine of the treatment group and control group are both nonirritant.Conclusion:The herbal medicine in Southern China,which is composed of Jieshang Decotion for oral taken,as well as Jieshang Powder for external use, can improve the clinical symptom and the functional sign of the acute twisted ankle contusion.Jiesang Powder is nonirritant for external use.
