| Background:Ankle sprains are the most common musculoskeletal injuries of the lower extremities involved in sports.Studies have shown that the general population who do not participate in physical activity also has a high incidence of ankle sprains,with 70 percent of the general population having a history of ankle sprains.In the UK,it has been reported that patients with lateral ankle pains lose an average of about a week’s wages,and the direct medical cost of ankle sprains to society as a whole is approximately £940.The treatment of acute ankle sprain is particularly important because of ankle instability,talus cartilage injury,osteoarthritis and other problems.Objective:To observe the clinical efficacy of Xiaotong plaster in the treatment of acute ankle sprain and the recovery of ankle joint function,so as to provide a convenient and economical method for the clinical treatment of acute ankle sprain.Methods:The cases were collected from patients with acute ankle sprain who visited the Department of hand-foot surgery and emergency department of the Third Affiliated Hospital of Beijing University of Chinese Medicine from October 2021 to October 2022.According to the inclusion and exclusion criteria,90 patients with acute ankle sprain were randomly divided into three groups:basic group,control group and treatment group,with 30 cases in each group.The basic group adopted the POLICE treatment principles:Protection(Optimal Loading),Ice(ice),Compression(compression)and Elevation(elevation)were treated,and the control group was treated with intramuscular effect paste on the basis of basic treatment.The treatment group was treated with Xiaotong plaster on the basis of basic treatment.The Visual Analogue Scale and American Orthopedic Foot and Ankle scale were observed before treatment,after 1 week,and after 2 weeks-Society)ankle and hindfoot function scores and the Cumberland Ankle in-stability tool(CAIT)were recorded before and after treatment.Results:A total of 90 patients were included in this study,and there were no significant differences in age,gender and other personal information,VAS score and AOFAS score scale(P>0.05),while there were significant differences in CAIT score scale(P<0.05).After treatment,the pain,range of motion and ankle instability of the affected limb were significantly improved in the base group,control group and treatment group.After 1 week of treatment,the VAS score of the control group and the treatment group had no statistical significance(P>0.05),the VAS score of the control group was lower than that of the basic group with statistical significance(P<0.05),and the VAS score of the treatment group was lower than that of the basic group with statistical significance(P<0.05).The AOFAS score of the three groups was significantly different(P<0.05).The AOFAS score of the treatment group was better than that of the control group,and the AOFAS score of the control group was better than that of the basic group.After 2 weeks of treatment,the VAS score of the treatment group was lower than that of the control group and the basic group,the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05),and the VAS score of the control group was lower than that of the basic group,the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).AOFAS score of the treatment group was better than that of the control group and the foundation group,and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05),while AOFAS score of the control group was better than that of the foundation group,and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).There was no significant difference in CAIT score among the three groups(P>0.05).Conclusion:External application of Xiaotong plaster can effectively relieve pain and swelling of patients and improve the function of ankle joint.It is simple and safe in clinic,and rarely occurs skin allergic reaction in the process of medication. |
