Background: The teaching during internship constitutes an important part of the higher TCM education, bridges the theories acquired and practice, tests theories and practical skills and cultivates professional ethics, clinical skills and clinical thinking. So the quality of clinical teaching plays an important part in the evaluation of higher TCM education. In recent years, due to the enrollment enlargement, the decreace of internship, the implement of new medical laws and regulations and the pressure of employment, the effect of the students is much worse than before.Objective: This paper is based on the questionnaire inquired into the clinical teachers in practice bases (hospitals) and clinical graduates during academic years 2006 to 2007 in Shandong University of Traditional Chinese Medicine majored in traditional Chinese medicine, acupuncture and massage. The research is done regarding both the teachers and the graduates during internship to analyze the factors which influence the satisfaction, thus to provide the theory reference of improving the condition of the internship and quality of the practice.Method: The investigation questionnaire is initially designed and to guarantee the quality of questionnaire the method of random sample is adopted. All the samples are taken out from teachers and practice students (traditional Chinese medicine majors and acupuncture and massage majors) from different clinical bases in different levels (clinical medical colleges, subsidiary hospitals, teaching and researching scientific bases, teaching hospitals, practice hospitals). Result data is quantized, and statistically analyzed.Result: (1) Great majority of clinical teachers and practice students are comparatively satisfied with the practice teaching or internship. (2) The factors which influenced the degree of satisfaction of clinical teachers arrange from internship schedule, practice examination check, internship content, clinical work environment, interns' sense of responsibility, balance of clinical teaching and hospital routine jobs, time balance of internship and exam for postgraduates and job-hunting, clinic administration, information exchange in teaching to practice students study initiative and operation ability. (3) The factors which influenced the degree of satisfaction of practice students arrange from internship content, internship schedule, practice examination check, clinic administration, teachers occupation quality, clinic facilities, circulation of teaching information, teaching methods, clinical technical ability training, practice corresponded with exam for postgraduates and future jobs.Conclusion: (1) As for results, the school clinic job progresses comparatively smoothly, therefore it is mostly accepted and approved by clinical teachers and practice students. (2) However, there still exist some factors which are bound to affect the degree of satisfaction, such as clinical technical ability training, the balance between internship and exam for postgraduates and future jobs, circulation of clinical teaching information, teaching methods. To settle down the problems, it is required that school and the practice teaching base should reinforce a further job.
