Objective This study examine the status quo and relationship of emotional, physical abuse and internet addiction disorder (IAD) among middle school students,in order to lay the foundation for studying the risk factors and formation mechanism of IAD.Methods Students selected from 76 classes in Grade One and Grade Two by convenient sampling and voluntarily filled out the anonymous questionnaire,which include the demographic characteristics of students and parents, information of internet use,Young's Internet Addiction Scale, information of child abuse, et al.Non-conditional multivariate logistic regression model were employed to explore the relationship between child abuse and IAD,the independent variables were severe physical abuse, moderate physical abuse, lower grade physical abuse and emotional abuse, the dependent variables were IAD, the covariant variables were the demographic characteristics,such as sex, age, homestyle, et al.Results Among 3507 internet users, 5.2% was diagnosed as IAD.The prevalence rate of IAD among female students was lower than that among male students and with significant difference.There was a significant association between homestyle, learning result,work spot of father and mother, quarrel of parents and IAD. Age,grade,only child,average income of family member, educational background of mother, educational background of father, blood relationship between father,mother and self have no significant association with IAD. Among 3798 students,the prevalence rate of emotional abuse was 81.1%, 55.1% of students reported in physical abuse.The prevalence rate of moderate physical abuse and severe physical abuse among female students was lower than male students and with significant difference,but no significant association was founded in the prevalence rate of emotional abuse and lower grade physical abuse.There was a significant association between age, grade, only child, learning result, quarrel of parents and emotional abuse, physical abuse. Educational background of mother,work spot of father, blood relationship between father,mother and self was founded no significant association with emotional abuse and physical abuse. Average income of family member,homestyle was founded no significant association with emotional abuse, and was founded significant association with physical abuse. The non-conditional multivariate logistic regression model showed that odds ratio of severe physical abuse and moderate physical abuse was 3.021(1.634~5.584),3.996(2.013~7.930) after adjustment.Conclusions Internet was prevalent in middle school students and some of students have been diagnosed as IAD. Emotional abuse and physical abuse were prevalent in middle school students, the prevalence rate of severe physical abuse, moderate physical abuse among female students was lower than male students and with significant difference. The severe physical abuse and moderate physical abuse were possible risk factor of IAD. To promote the children's healthy development, we should pay more attention to child abuse and carry out kinds of preventive measures to decrease the incidence of IAD.
