| Objective: According to the theory of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Chinese-western combined medicine, the research systematically probes into the pathogenesis of Rheumatoid Arthritis(RA) in active stage from theoretical, clinical and experimental aspects. Methods: We collected 67 inpatients and outpatients of RA from 2005～2006. We prescribed Sishen decoction addition for 38 cases as the treating group. The control group contains 29 cases, prescribed with Lei Gong Teng Duo Dai Tableas and Bei Su Qing Tableas. Treat for 2 months and inquire for 3 months to observe the treatment result. By experiment, we study the effect of Sishen decoction addition on serum inflammatory cytokine of adjuvant arthritis rat. Results: Cilnical study shows that Erythrocyte sedimentation rate and C reaction protein of treat group reduce notably, paralleling with the improvement of the symptoms and signs. Sishen decoction addition can reduce inflammatory cytokine of adjuvant arthritis rat by experiment. Conclusion: It is right that the theory of hiding toxin and heat evil is the main pathogenesis of Rheumatoid Arthritis in active stage. The treatment of eliminating hiding toxin and penetrating heat evil is effective.
