Objective:To analyse the relevance between the activity of erythrocyte membrane Na~+-K~+ ATPase and neonatal behavioral neurological assessment in neonates with hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy. Methods:To determinate the activity of erythrocyte membrane Na~+-K~+ ATPase by detecting pi and take neonatal behavioral neurological assessment in 24 neonates with moderate or severe hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy and 20 normal neonates, and to explore the relevance between them. Results:The activity of erythrocyte membrane Na~+-K~+ATPase and grades of NBNA in neonates with HIE were significantly lower than that of control group at the acute stage.Furthermore,at the recovery stage, both of them rised, but there was still significant difference between the two groups(P<0.01).And there were positive correlations between them at both acute and recovery stage. The correlation coefficients were 0.65 and 0.60 respectively (P<0.001).Conclusions:There was maladjustment,of the activity of erythrocyte membrane Na~+-K~+ATPase in moderate or severe HIE newborns. The delined activity of erythrocyte membrane Na~+-K~+ATPase may be one of the identifications in early assesement of brain damage degree for HIE cases.
