Objective The purpose of this study was to evaluation the relationship between NGB and NBNA score in HIE and to provide a new method for the diagnosis cerebral damage of HIE in early time. Methods NGB were detected by ELISA method. NBNA scores were performed by professional staff in all cases. The study population consisted of 102 HIE newborns and 30 healthy term newborns,2ml vein blood were collected from every HIE newborns respectively(one day sevendays after birth)and control group(one day after birth).500μl serum were reserved in 80'C low temperature refrigerator. All data were analyzed by statistics analysis. Results The serum NGB value and NBNA scores:There were significant difference among HIE groups and control group at one day after birth (P<0.01,P<0.05).Among the mild the middle and the severe group had statistical significance at one day and seven days after birth (P<0.01). There were not statistically significant between sexes.seven days after birth NBNA score:The value of the mild HIE group had not statistically significant with the control group(P>0.05), the middle and the severe HIE group had statistically significant with the control group(P<0.05). Among the mild, the middle and the severe group had statistical significance(P<0.01).one day and seven days the correlation analysis for NGB and NBNA score:NGB was negatively correlated to the corresponding NBNA scores (r=-0.76,P<0.01, r=-0.63, P<0.01)Conclusions In this study, by detecting the value of serum NGB of HIE newborns, and analyzing the relationship between NGB and NBNA cores. conclusions were made as follows:1. these results suggested that the levels of NGB were obviously increased in HIE. Therefore the levels of serum NGB could be used as a indicator of cerebral damage which could predict HIE and criterion for the prognosis. NGB was obviously increased with the serious cases of HIE, and decreased gradually with the recovery of the patients. The levels of serum NGB could be used as helpful markers for the diagnosis and predicting prognosis of HIE.2.NGB was negatively correlated with the corresponding NBNA scores. Our study suggested that change of NGB levels was related with the degree of brain injured, and the higher NGB, the poor prognosis in HIE. They both were useful for judging the state of disease.3. NGB provided theoretical basis for HIE early diagnosis, and also provided a kind of mode for future research and development and application NGB.
