Objective:To investigate the relationship between the initial concentration of TGF-β1 in serum and Neonatal Hypoxic-ischemic Encephalopathy by Neonatal Behavioral Neurological Assessment.Methods:The levels of TGF-β1 in serum were measured by ELISA among groups including 28 babies who got different degrees of HIE on the first day, the second or the third day and the seventh day after birth. The levels of TGF-β1 in serum of control groups including 20 babies were measured on the third day. NBNA were taken before collecting blood. The relationship of the concentration of TGF-β1 in serum and NBNA scores was analyzed to find out the function of TGF-β1 in the pathophysiology of HIE.Results:⒈The levels of TGF-β1 in serum of HIE baby patients decreased after brain damage, which were the lowest during the second and the third day, began to increase on the seventh day. In serious group, the concentration of TGF-β1 in serum was obviously lower than that of the slight and the moderate at different periods. The difference was significant (p<0.05).⒉The NBNA scores of HIE baby patients decreased after brain damage, which were the lowest during the second and the third day, began to increase on the seventh day. In a word ,it was not only a way of early diagnosis but also an important parameter to determine the severity, evaluate the efficacy and estimate the prognosis of HIE to test the concentration of TGF-β1 in serum.
