| Now evidence based medicine is prevalent all over the world. More and more researchers liketo collect clinical materials to make clinical evidence. Well, there are a lot of theses were printed onthe journals year by year. Those theses were written by clinical doctors, and they are the bestmaterials to make clinical evidence. The quality of the thesis is the most important for theresearchers, include samples size, control methods, statistics methods etc. Children pneumonia is acommon disease in undeveloped and developing countries. It needs carefully research.Objective:The aim of the research is to evaluate the quality of those theses, and also want to make awhole review of the latest 12 years pneumonia theses.Method:With the donation of government, we make a wide collection of pneumonia thesis since1994-2005 from CNKI and CQVIP data base. We built a local database named Contemporarytheses of children pneumonia management database system. All theses were read carefully, thenabstracted knowledge units were putted into the database. Before the data analyze procedure, wesort out the database fields properly. With the analyze tools such as SPSS 13.0 and Microsoft Excel2003, we can obtain the results below.Results:The result of this research is like this: there are 2318 theses were collected into this research,include western medicine treated trials, traditional Chinese medicine treated trials and mixed treatedtrials. There are 23 theses designed with randomized controlled blinded method; 1024 theses weredesigned with randomized controlled method; 336 theses designed with no randomized butcontrolled method and there are 755 theses designed with nothing. According to the Jadad Scale,only one thesis gained high scores (4-7). The quality of the pneumonia theses needs to be improvedimmediately.Conclusion:Based on the Jadad Scale, the quality of the pneumonia theses since 1994-2005 is very low. Weshould pay more attention to research methods and sample properties description.
