| Objective: To observe the clinical effect and side effects of gengni-anjieyu Decoction in treatment of the femals'climacteric depression.Methods: Sixty patients with the femals'climacteric age depression were equally divided into 2 groups at random: group A (treated with gengnianjieyu Decoction), group B (treated with HRT andααprozac). After three months, to observe the kupperman measuring scale, Hamilton Depression Scale, HAMA measuring scale, endocrine indexes and the side effects were observed.Results: gengni-anjieyu Decoction treated the femals'climacteric depression that has utmostly clinical effect.The total effective rate after three months of treating is86.67% ,there is no significance meaning in the difference between two groups; gengni-anjieyu Decoction could decrease the kupperman measuring scale, Hamilton Depression Scale, HAMA measuring scale, the scale. There had statistical significance(p<0.01),but There had no statistical significance in between the two groups; For the effects on endocrine system, the levels of FSH and LH decreased insignificantly in all the two groups. The levels of E2 could be significantly improved, but Western medicine group was superior to Traditional Chinese medicine group, and there had significance(p<0.05); but There had no statistical significance in between the two groups.To following the conclusion of the treatment,there were 3 patients greads of HAMD increased in treatment group ,while 10 patients in contral group in all of the effective ones.And there are 2 cases have decreased greads . Two groups of differences in security measuring had a significance meaning.Traditional Chinese medicine group has none and Western medicine group have 5 examples.Conclusion: The efficacy is significance in treatment of the femals'climacteric age depression in gengnianjieyu Decoction. The effective rate was 86.67%, and had no side effects, and had little relapse in the future.
