BackgroundWith the deepening of China's reform and opening up, the national economy has developed rapidly, but economic gap exists between different regions as well as between urban and rural areas, and "floating population" appears. City floating population engages mainly in labor-intensive, low-income jobs with poor diet and living conditions. Lacking in basic health knowledge, many of them have serious health problems. The utilization of health services among city floating population has aroused public concern. Therefore, research work on health service utilization of urban floating transient population becomes quite essential.ObjectiveIn order to find out the general situation of the floating population health service need and utilization of Jining City, Shandong Province, and choose the appropriate statistic methods to analyze the influence factors of the floating population clinic service utilization of the Jining City, according to the characteristic of the materials so as to offer scientific basis for formulation of relevant hygiene policies.MethodsOn August of 2006, some partial floating populations were collected as the sampling for the investigation of the health service need and utilization by the means of the random sampling method towards the urban areas floating population of Jining City, Shandong Province. Two weeks prevalence and persons with physician contact within two weeks were calculated. Use spss11.5 statistics software to deal with the data. The Influence factors, persons with physician contact within two weeks and outpatient service expenditure in two weeks were analyzed by x~2 test.Main Results1 .Information of two weeks prevalence: two weeks prevalence was higher than the average level of countryside and was lower than the average level of urban during the 2nd national health service survey. 2.Information of persons with physician contact within two weeks:â‘ person with physician contact within two weeks was lower than the average level of countryside and the average level of urban during the 2nd national health service survey, the rates of female were higher to the rates of the male in every group. The results of single factor analysis revealed that the influence factors of sociology, such as age, marriage, culture, job, chronic illness were significant different. The main reason why Most of the floating populations did not go to see a doctor was that they consider their economic trouble, Parties of the floating populations have adopted self-medical treatment, and medicine source is from the individual drugstore and spare medicine of family.â‘¡the visiting cost in two weeks: the visiting cost in two weeks is higher than the crowd of rural and urban areas according to the sampling investigation of the whole country health service of 1998. The results of single factor analysis as age, gender, education and employment are connected with the visiting cost in two weeks, The results of multifactor analysis as age, employment and medical cost of payment mode are connected with the visiting cost in two weeks.Conclusion and suggestionsHealth service utilization of the floating populations was low. Age, marriage, education, job, chronic illness were important influence factors of Health service utilization. The visiting cost in two weeks was higher than the average level of country. Suggestions: the floating populations is ensured enjoying the right of health service on policy and law; the city should carry out the job-training for the floating populations of city, the floating populations is easier to exist and develop in the city.
