Tendon diseases are generally caused by tendinitis stenosans, ganglion cyst, tendinous sheath tumors etc. and some are caused by tuberculous tenosynovitis. However, in rare condition, it also can be infected by fungus. We now report a case in which extensor tendon rupture in the right ring finger caused by fungal tenosynovitis in 50-year-old male patient. Granuloma formation fungal spores could be seen in the specimen by postoperative pathological examination.Infectious or suppurative tenosynovitis is an infection of the closed synovial sheaths of tendons. Appropriate antibiotics in combination with incision and drainage are generally recommended. Aggressive surgical management is particularly important in tenosynovitis to prevent tendon necrosis. Pathogenesis and microbiological examination were reviewed in this paper. The diagnosis of bacterial tenosynovitis may be suspected based on clinical history and symptoms at presentation. The clinical manifestation and treatment of suppurative tenosynovitis were alsodiscussed.
