The education of adult clinical medicine speciality is the important component of the higher medical education in our country, it has trained and sent a number of qualified medical talents for our society, and has developed quickly. Yet with the development of medical science and the change of medical model, it is facing many problems which effect the promotion of teaching quality and the realization of training purpose , so the reform of this kind must be carried out. The curriculum provision is the critical link of realizing the training purpose, so how to fit it to the change of medical model and combine the characteristics of adult students together to set up and arrange the courses scientifically and reasonably is the badly needed solving topic about the reform of medical teaching and education for adult.By the means of literature and investigation, the study surveys overally and systematically the problems existing in the curriculum provision of the adult clinical medicine speciality in Lanzhou University, and puts forward some suggestions and strategies. The object of the study is the adult clinical medicine speciality in Lanzhou University. First, the study analyzes the developing status quo of home and abroad about adult medical education. Second, it introduces the status quo of the research and reform in the curriculum provision of home and abroad about higher medical education for adult; Send by mail the curriculum planning of adult clinical medicine speciality from nine domestic universities, compare and analyze the situations of their curriculum provisions from several aspects, approach the status quo and problems existing in the current curriculum provision of adult clinical medicine speciality in our country. Third, it analyzes the results of the questionnaires investigated among the adult students in grades2004 and 2005 of Lanzhou University Continuing Education School, who graduated from a junior college and now major in the regular undergraduate courses in clinical medicine speciality and are released from work for study, also among the teachers of all courses in the two grades, thus can understand their opinions,proposals and suggestions to the current curriculum provision overally and systematically. So it finds that there exist some problems in the current curriculum provision of the clinical medicine speciality of Lanzhou University Continuing Education School, such problems as the tendency towards the regular undergraduate education,failing to reflect the change of medical model,the lack of humanistic education,the ignorance to the teaching of practical courses or experimental courses,failing to consider the learning characteristics of adult students and so on. Last, it puts forward some practical and reasonable suggestions and strategies according to the existing problems, they are: changing and renewing the ideas of education; strongthening the course construction of the humane and social subjects; highlighting the practical teaching link; paying attention to the set-up for the courses concerning the diseases prevention and group health; offering the courses which are in favor of cultivating students'ability to study independently and the ability of creativity.
