[Objective] The present study was to investigate whether there was a relationship between serum levels of adiponectin , fasting blood glucose , lipids , waist circumference and blood pressure and the onset,invasion and metastasis of breast cancer,in order to find experimental evidence that would be helpful in the diagnosis and prevention of breast cancer.[Methods] Blood samples were collected from 80 newly diagnosed , his--tologically confirmed breast cancer patients and 50 age-matched healthy controls .Serum adiponectin, fasting blood glucose(FBG) , triglyceride (TG), total cholesterol (TC) , high density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-c) and low density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-c) were determined by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assays (ELISA) and Biochemisty Auto-analyzer, respectively .Height, weight, BMI, waist circumference, systolic blood pressure and diastolic blood pressure were assayed simultaneously .
