The Clinical Research On Acupotomology In Treatment Of The Third Lumber Vertebrae Transverse Process Syndrome

Objective: To evaluate the therapeutic efficacy of acupotomology in treatment of the third lumber vertebrae transverse process syndrome.Methord: The study is based on the diagnosis criterion which was instituted by the National TCM administration .We have selected suitable cases from the outpatient department of acupuncture and osteology in THE First Affiliated Hospital of GuangZhou TCM University and the Osteologic Outpatient department of Renmen Hospital in Canton Province since June, 2004 to May,2006.There are30 cases in acupotomology's group, 30 cases in blockade group. The acupotomology prescription: The patient layes dwon on the bad, the operator uses his or her thumb to find the sensitive point of the third lumber vertebrae transverse, mark and disinfect the point, and use 2% Lidocain to do the local anaesthesia. The operator use his or her thumb to stress the vertebrae transverse, using the bistoury to insert to the muscle parallel to the y-axis of the human body, when the bistoury reaches the bone's surface or the focus, when the patient may feel have a feeling of ache and swelling obviously, then immediately slice off the transverse in vertical direction, and peel off the soft tissue of the transverse, making the line parallelto the transverse, respectively taking the scalpel out from the upper and underside part, using the tampon to pressue the wound part for a while, let the patient laying down with half an hour to receive observation. After the operation, the wound part is forbidden to contact with the water to prevent infection, no need to take any oral medication. Period of treatment: 1-3 times, 1 time per week, 3weeks in the limit. The prescription of blockade group: the patient pronate on the bed, the operator press the third lumber vertebrae transverse with his thumb, after disinfection, using the pinhead to insert to the the third lumber vertebrae transverse in 30 degree, when touching the bone, adjust the direction of the pinhead, to inject lml Prednisolone and 1% Lidocaine, 1 time each 5-6days,generally not exceeding 3 times. Period of treatment: each patient of this group receive the treatment 2-3 times, 1 time perweek, limited in 3 weeksResult:The therapeutic effects both satisfy, after one period of treatment, the curative effect of acupotomology group is better than the blockade group's significantly. (P<0.05 ) Conclusion: Acupotomology therapy function on the focus corretly, release and separate the wound part properly, it is the combination of "acupuncture"and" bistoury" . The clinical observation manifest that: Acupotomology therapy is one of the more eficient treatments for the syndrome of the third lumbar vertebra transverse foramen.
