| Objective: To explore the new way of combining internal treatment with external treatment of rheumatoid arthritis(RA) and the mechanism of Qingretongluoyin plus Erxue Therapy(QPE) in treating RA in active stage.The research is involved with theoretical, clinical and experimental aspects. Methods : In the clinical study, thirty cases of RA in active stage were divided into two group: one is the treated group (16 cases treated with QPE) and the other is the control group (14 cases treated with Huobahuagengpian(HBHG tablet)).The symptoms , signs and laboratory examinations of all patients before and after treatment were observed. In experiment study, severity of arthritis and arthritic index were investigated in the wister rats with adjuvant arthritis(AA) as pathological model and in mice. Results: The clinical study shows that the total effective rate was 100% in treatment group, while in control group, it was 78.6%.The difference of total effective rate between the two groups was remarkable(P<0.01).Compared in symptoms, signs and laboratory examinations, treatment group has improved more obviously in relieving the painfulness(P<0.01).Animals experiments showed QPE has the function of dephlogisticate, analgesia and immune regulation. QPE can depress the arthritis of AA. Conclusion: QPE in an effective way for treating RA in active stage. This therapy may operate by the mechanisms such as inhibiting infection and inflammation, regulating immune function, improving the blood circulation and so on. It can be applied as a new therapy of RA in active stage.
