Objective The aim of this study is to summarize the features of multiple sclerosis. To investigate relationship of uric acid serum levels in multiple sclerosis with clinical activity of disease .Methods We have retrospectively studied the characteristics of 88 MS case (female 48,male 40)on clinic .Control 1 other imflammatory neurological disease (OIND) 104.Control 2 is healthy donor (female 70 ,male 70).By using a quantitative enzymatic assay commercial uric acid standard solution .Serum uric acid levels were measure and result were standardized .Result The patients in this term optic and spinalcord are easy to be invasived .MS patients have significantly lower serum uric acid levels in comparison with OIND and healthy donor(p<0.05) .MS patients with relapse had lower serum uric acid levels(p<0.05). multi linar regression show serum uric acid levels independent correlation with clinical activity (M :r= 0.380, p=0.016 ;F: r=0.310,p=0.032 ,).Conclusion The features of MS in china should be different from those in western country. Serum uric acid levels might serves as a possible marker of disease activity in MS ,it also provide support the potential beneficial therapeutic effect of radical- scavenger substances in MS.
