Objective: This study aimed to investigate serum total cholesterol/ high density lipoprotein(TC/HDL),triglyceride/ high density lipoprotein(TG/HDL)and low density lipoprotein/ high density lipoprotein(LDL/HDL)of gout patients.Relation between SUA and characteristics in gout patients was also evaluated.Multiple linear regression was performed as well.We attempted to study the relationship between uric acid excretion and lipid indexed in patients with gout.METHODS: Two hundred and ninety-six gout patients were reviewed in this study(gout group),while 51 healthy volunteers were included as healthy control group.Serum TC,TG,LDL,HDL,TC/HDL,TG/HDL and LDL/HDL were compared between groups.Relative Odds(RR)and 95% confidence interval(CI)were used to analyze the relative risk of the elevation of TC/HDL,TG/HDL or LDL/HDL.Correlation analysis between SUA and its contributory factors, including age, disease duration, body mass index(BMI),alanine transaminase(ALT),aspartatetransaminase(AST),serum creatinine(SCr),fasting plasma glucose(FPG),TC,TG,LDL,HDL,TC/HDL,TG/HDL and LDL/HDL in patients with gout.Multiple linear regression was employed to compared the influence of age, gender, disease duration,BMI,ALT,SCr,FPG,TC/HDL,TG/HDL and LDL/HDL on SUA of gouty patients.Gout patients were divided into excretion reduction group, mixed group and excessive group by fraction extretion of uric acid(FEUA).Correlation between between FEUA and TC,TG,LDL,HDL,TC/HDL,TG/HDL plus LDL/HDL was assessed as well.RESULTS:(1)TC/HDL,TG/HDL and LDL/HDL of gouty patients were 4.36±1.03,1.75±1.13 and 2.65±0.91,which were significantly greater than those of healthy controls(3.83±0.93,1.24±0.81 and 2.17±0.76,P<0.05).(2)RR of increasing TG/HDL or LDL/HDL is 3.047(95%CI,1.381-6.723)and 2.361(95%CI,1.021-5.457),which were statistically significant(P<0.05).(3)SUA related to age(r=-0.190,P<0.05),BMI(r=0.156,P<0.05),SCr(r=0.314,P<0.05),TG(r=0.155,P<0.05),TC/HDL(r=0.196,P<0.05),TG/HDL(r=0.197,P<0.05)and LDL/HDL(r=0.163,P<0.05)in gout group.(4)Stepwise multiple linear regression revealed ?-value of TG/HDL,SCr and age were 0.212,0.182 and-0.186(P<0.05).(5)FEUA related to TG(r=-0.309,P<0.05)and TG/HDL(r=-0.318,P<0.05).Conclusion: TC/HDL,TG/HDL and LDL/HDL of gout patients arehigher than those of healthy controls, and the relative risk of the elevation of TG/HDL and LDL/HDL was significantly increased in gout patients.SUA of gouty patients associates with age,BMI,SCr,TG,LDL,TC/HDL,TG/HDL and LDL/HDL.Effect of TG/HDL is greater than the other factors in patients with gout.Abnormality of TG and TG/HDL may relate to the lower uric acid excretion in gout patients.
