Functional Laboratory Science is a very important constitute of Medical Experimental Science. It is a basic skill-training course for the specialities such as Clinic Medicine, Preventive Medicine, and Medical Testing. Furthermore, it closely links to the medical education purpose of bringing up qualified medical staff for the 21th century.In the recent 50 years, experimental teaching and studying has been at a subordinate position in the medical education in China. In addition, it blocks the development of scientific thinking and the training of the basic independent experimental skills. The problem of the instruments used separately has caused the repetition of purchase, unable to make full use of and update mem in time. Therefore, with the advance of the medical education theories, the traditional experimental teaching and studying mode cannot meet the increasing requirements for the qualified medical staif, and the needs of the present era.With the precondition that the reform has been carried out on the Functional Laboratory Science education four years in our university, and focusing on the integration of experimental educational contents and the formation of educational methods, this research aims to analyze the necessity and feasibility of the reform, and to establish a pyramid-form innovative project for the teaching and studying methods, which is based on the scientific, orderly, and modernized department plan, and backboned by a group of excellent teachers with rich teaching experience, sound specialized knowledge, and innovative thoughts. A scientific quantitative quality evaluation system has been set up to assess the teaching and studying results, to improve the experimentalteaching and studying, and eventually to develop the students comprehensive capabilities, practical operative skills and creative thoughts.According to the practical investigation on 4334 students, 6187 class hours of three grades hi our university, and the scientific analyses of quantitative quality evaluation, the positive results have been obtained and revealed that the project is of feasibility and significance in improving the educational quality, increasing the study interest, and benefiting the the comprehensive capabilities' training.
