Clinical Study On Treatment Of Allergic Rhinitis With

Objective:Compared with conventional western medicine treatment,we tried to observe and evaluate the clinical efficacy and safety of traditional Chinese medicine Wenyang Tongqiao Fang on patients with allergic rhinitis, which is the experience prescription of Professor Zhang Shunan.Methods:60 cases were collected in outpatient clinic of China-Japan Friendship Hospital from the autumn and winter of 2014 to the spring of 2015,which were diagnosed as allergic rhinitis according to the diagnosing standard of both western and Chinese medicine. The 60 patients were randomly divided into two groups,the treatment group of 30 cases and the control group of 30 cases. The patients in the treatment group were given the Wenyang Tongqiao Fang for 4 weeks,and the patients in the control group were given the conventional western medicine treatment for 4 weeks. We observed and recorded the changes of the main symptoms,physical signs and accompanying symptoms(TCM symptoms)of patients before the treatment,1-week’s treatment and 4-week’s treatment. SPSS 17.0 statistic software was used for data analysis. T test and chi square test were used for data analysis. If the data do not comply with normal distribution and the homogeneity of variance,nonparametric test were used.Results:(1)After 1-week’s treatment,the patients’main symptoms and physical signs were improved significantly in both treatment group and control group. There were significant difference before and after the treatment,such as the main symptoms,sings,total scores and curative effect with P< 0.05. Treatment group has 30 cases, of which 12 cases were prominent effective,14 cases were effective,4 cases were ineffective,the total effective rate was 86.7%. In the control group,the significant difference of the main symptoms,sings,total scores and curative effect were as P< 0.05. Control group has 30 cases,of which 13 cases were prominent effective,11 cases were effective,6 cases were ineffective,the total effective rate was 80%. There were no significant differences between two groups of the main symptoms,sings,total scores and curative effect(P>0.05).(2)After 4-weeks’treatment, the patients’main symptoms and physical signs in treatment group and control group were significantly improved. The significant differences shown before and after 4 weeks’treatment in treatment group as the main symptoms, sings, total scores and curative effect with P< 0.05. Treatment group has 30 cases, of which 20 cases were prominent effective,9 cases were effective,1 cases were ineffective, the total effective rate was 96.7%. The significant differences shown before and after 4 weeks’treatment in control group were shown as the main symptoms, sings, total scores and curative effect with P< 0.05. Control group has 30 cases, of which 17 cases were prominent effective,10 cases were effective,3 cases were ineffective, the total effective rate was 90%. There were no significant difference between treatment group and control group as P>0.05 in the main symptoms, sings, total scores and curative effect.(3)After 4-weeks’treatment,The significant difference of the accompanying symptoms(the sum of TCM symptom scores)in the treatment group were shown as P < 0.05. There was no significant difference of the accompanying symptoms in control group with P> 0.05. There was significant difference of the accompanying symptoms between treatment group and control group as P< 0.05.(4)2 patients in TCM treatment group had burning sensations on the esophagus or with stomachache, but after removing or reducing the dosage of Small Centipeda Herb,and advising the patients taking it after meals.their discomfort had disappeared.7 patients of western group had dry nose discomfort.Conclusion:Both Wenyang Tongqiao Fang and conventional western medicine had a significant effect on improving the clinical symptoms of AR patients. But symptoms as aversion to cold and wind, spontaneous perspiration and weakness were not alleviated in control group. Compared with the control group, the curative effect in the treatment group was more obvious. In a word, Wenyang Tongqiao Fang is effective in treating allergic rhinitis,and it deserves further study.
