Study On Suppository Of Traditional Chinese Medicine Treats Cow Endometritis

By analyzing the cause of cow endometritis, and based on the basic theory of traditional Chinese veterinary medicine, "Yimushenghua" powder and "addition of Yimushenghua" powder were used as the main raw materials to make the suppositories. In order to determine the physics character of these two suppositories, the melt time, the shape, the color, the weight difference, the melting point, pH, transfiguration temperature were measured. In order to compare the bacteriostasis effects (Staphylococcus aureaus, Colibacillus, Streptococcus, Pseudomonas aeruginosa) of these two suppositories, Minimum Inhibitory Concentration (MIC) and Minimum Bactericidal Concentration (MBC) were measured respectively, and at the same time used Cephalothin V, Ciprofloxacin, Ampicillin, Neomycin, Gentamycin as control. Compare in vitro bacteriostasis effects of the two suppositories, and select the better suppository. In order to study the security of the suppositories in clinic, the rectal and vaginal mucous membrane acute toxicity test, the rectal and vaginal mucous membrane irritating experiments by suppository administer in the rabbits were done. For testing the effects of the suppositories, 26 endometritis cows in Maoyuan cow breeding farm, Zaoqiang County, Hengshui area were selected to administer suppository of "addition of Yimushenghua" in rectum and vagina, the changements of NO, NOS, SOD, MDA in sera were measured. The results indicated that the melt time of the suppository: "Yimushenghua" was 54 minutes, "addition of Yimushenghua" was 56 minutes, conformed to the melt time of suppository. The contour was consistent, the surface was smooth, and no delamination was found. The suppository could be melted or softened at body temperature, and had some rigidity. The deformation temperature: the suppository of "Yimushenghua" was 37.5℃, the suppository of "addition of Yimushenghua" was 37℃. pH of the two suppositories were 6.6-7.0, and don't turn rancid and distort in preservation. In vitro bacteriostasis experiment indicated that MIC and MBC in the suppository of "addition of Yimushenghua" was better than those of the suppository of "Yimushenghua". So the suppository of "addition of Yimushenghua" were selected to treat cow endometritis. In security experiment, the food intake, feces, breath, central nervous system, body temperature, four limbs activity of the rabbits had no changement after lh,12h,24h,48h,72h in rectal administer the suppository of "addition of Yimushenghua", and no rabbit died. The changement in vaginal administer was same as those in rectum. In rabbit rectal mucous membrane irritating experiment, no bad reaction was found. No unusual secretion was found in anus. There weren't obvious hyperemia, dropsy, erosion, ulcer and bleeding spots in the rectal and vaginal mucous membrane. The effect of vaginal administer was better than that of rectal administer by the changement of NO, NOS, SOD and MDA in sera.
