| Xiao Zhan rice is originated from Tianjin, and is well known for its superb quality both home and abroad. The research of rice cultivation and germination in Tianjin has a rich and long history, and enjoys prestigious status in the northern rice region of China. Tianjin has been maintaining roughly 53 thousand acres of rice growing area in recent years. The average rice yield per acre in Tianjin has been very steady at above 7500 kilograms since 1993. In 1998 the rice growing area in Tianjin was 52 thousand acres, yield per acre exceeded 8700 kilograms, in some specific area, the yield per acre is well over 11250 kilograms, prefulfilled the status of state super rice. However, rice-growing area has been shrinking in recent years because of the continued drought in the area of Tianjin. For example, there were only 5.6 thousand acres of rice growing area in the year of 2003, the lowest level of rice growing area since the late 1940s. Now there are mainly three problems exist in rice production in Tianjin: the first is shortage of water because of the continued 7 years drought; the second is poor benefits to plant the rice, the agricultural enthusiasm of plating rice is low; the third is the agricultural technology popularization system is not perfect, new water-saving cultivation technique fails to popularize by a large scale. The shortage of water is the most important problem. It has caused rice cultivated area in Tianjin directly to shrink sharply.This paper bases on the reality of produces to Tianjin rice, uses the experience that the domestic and international rice is planted for reference, has proposed promoting Tianjin rice to produce the settlement way of the road to go on sustainable development: Popularize the new-type water-saving culture modes of the suitable actual conditions of Tianjin, optimize the structure of variety, plant the high-quality variety, accelerate industrialization development, strengthen and popularize system construction, accelerate the application of scientific findings and popularization. |
