Because of the developing of heavy haul freight transportation in China, gravity center height of the railway freight cars will change heavily. The position of the center of gravity of goods on railway freight cars influence the running stability of railway freight cars directly. According to the Regulations on Loading and Securing of Railway Goods prevailing in China, the velocity will be limited when the height of gravity center exceeds 2000mm, and the allowable lateral deviation of the center of gravity of goods is 100mm from the longitudinal center line of the railway freight cars. It is quoted from the specifications before the 1950s, which is unsatisfied the currency demand of railway transportation. When railway freight cars running on sharp curves, the unfavorable influence for vehicle safety is increased because of the outer rail cant reduction and deloading wheels of outer lateral. On the one hand, the standards about the limited height of gravity center and the allowable lateral deviation of the center of gravity of goods are too conservative, on the other hand, it is easy to happen derailment accident when the railway freight cars running on sharp curves, sharp curve is an unfavorable line, thus, the study on the safety of railway freight cars with different height of gravity center running on sharp curves has become the most important problem to solve for freight car transportation safety after the speed-up.This article summarizes the correlated study in domestic foreign, analyzes the mainly safety factors of freight cars from line circumstance, vehicle structure and using circumstance three aspects, describes the experiment design from the tested vehicle, the experiment running line and the experiment running scheme three aspects and the scheme of loading and reinforcing. Then introduces the derailment models and the models of rate of wheel load reduction, according the experiment data, uses the vehicle dynamics study method, discusses the derailment coefficient and the rate of wheel load reduction when the railway freight car with different velocity, schemes of loading and reinforcing and radius running on sharp curves respectively. Finally, the article draws the conclusions, portrait or lateral deviation of gravity center is an unfavorable loading circumstance; the derailment coefficient and the rate of wheel load reduction are high when the speed is low; and gives an advised safety standard about the railway freight car running on sharp curves.
