The limited height of the loaded railway freight cars' gravity center is an important standard in the loading and fastening rules of railway freight. Because of the shortage of experiments and researches in such fields, this standard is conservative in China. The mismatch between the standard and the condition of the rail and vehicles leads to a low efficiency in the usage of the railway. Therefore, renew the limited height of the loaded railway cargo vehicle's gravity center reasonably can raise the capability of vehicle's loading and railway fright, especially in the circumstances that rail capability shortage is increasing day by day. Turnout zone is an unsubstantial part in the rail, being a terrible condition for the vehicles with low speed and unsafe running. Reasonably work out the standard must obtain the deeply research of the process that vehicles running through the turnout in the side direction. The study of this thesis is spread around this question.In this thesis, we regard the derailment quotient, ratio of off loading and axle load as the safety assessment standard. By the methods of doing statistics and analysis of the experimental data, modeling and solving the rail/vehicle forces model to study the stability of the vehicles running through the 12# turnout in the side direction. Through the comparison among the data and taking the methods of mathematical statistics and dynamics, we can find the loading and rail condition's influence to the stability of the vehicles; From the view of wheel/rail contact, take the methods of studying the lateral wheel/rail attack to investigate the internal reasons of the vary of the data; Take the method of solving forces model of vehicles to study the probability to derail, and increase the loading conditions that the experiment can not get. At last, the thesis summarize the conclusion that it can be proved to be correct that it is unnecessary to limit the vehicles'speed when running through the 12# turnout in the side direction.
