The Ways Of Building Up City Image By City Riverfront Landscape Design

Urban riverfront landscape is one of the most important parts in the landscape system of the city. Therefore riverfront area has become a hotspot of city landscape planning and design, which involves regulation of river course,shipping,protection of habitat and animal and plants, urban design,public psychology,aesthetics,etc. it has also been closely related to citizens'daily life.This thesis begins with the current situation of how urban riverfront landscape represent the city image and set Style of the Yellow Line in Lanzhou City as an example to discuss the pros and cons of the landscape design which can be used to represent local traditional culture,history and regional specialties. This thesis also tries to analyze the issues of city image in the aspect of urban riverfront landscape,as well as landscape presentation,in order to summarize the ideas and way of designing the kind of riverfront landscape which could represent and emphasize a city's character. Hope it can be useful in the future theoretical and practical planning projects.This thesis has been divided into six parts.The first chapter of this dissertation is Introduction. It discusses the background,purpose, content and the ideas of this research. It also points out the fact that because of the fast-speed development of modern cities, city images have become indistinct, and cities all look the same. As a result,building up every city's own and distinguish image by proper urban riverfront planning and design should be emphasized.The second chapter of this dissertation provides the general definitions of the related concept and reviewed the history of the relevant research in this field.The third chapter is case study,it provides domestic and foreign cases concerning with the riverfront landscape design.The fourth chapter analyzes the prevailing problems of current practical execution in building city image through riverfront landscape,as well as summarizes the general rules and concepts of how to design.The fifth chapter is field investigation. Taking Style of the Yellow Line in Lanzhou City as an example,fully analyze the advantages and disadvantages of its riverfront landscape.The sixth chapter is conclusion,after proposing relevant consideration,provides the summarization of the whole dissertation.
