In recent years, as the rapid development of economy, urbanization and mobility process of the country grows fast. Accordingly, the total number of automobiles increases rapidly. Because of the previous incomplete parking facilities and less attention on parking lot construction, parking problem is becoming serious day by day. It not only causes the traffic jam and influences city appearance, but also becomes the bottleneck of implementation of China auto industry and road traffic policy. As the fast pace of big cities entering auto society, private car ownership will grow more rapidly hereafter. It results in sharper contradiction between parking demand and supply. The parking difficulty will also increase in future. How to solve it becomes a big problem that municipal government has to face. The earlier the action takes, the better the results. To achieve it, we must know the internal law of parking system on the basis of studying it comprehensively. Scientific methods should also be used to forecast the parking demand development trend and propose the management strategies and measures correctly.Based on further study on characteristic and influence of parking demand and motor vehicle development, this thesis analyzes the current parking demand and supply and forecasts its future situation in Tianjin. According to the result and the experience of parking management of cities both at home and abroad, Tianjin parking demand management strategy is put forward here. It includes two aspects, three hierarchies and three stages. Namely increasing supply, reducing demand, concept, strategy layout, management measures, short term, midterm and long term. Based on above analysis and considering both increasing supply and reducing demand, detailed management measures that deliberate layout, qualified construction, bringing out potential, better guidance and strict management should be used under proper policy are proposed here. After comparing the parking demand management measures respectively using AHP, this thesis chooses the best one for priority to implement urgently.
