With the development of shipping, economic, marine vessel traffic density is increasing, and how to protect the marine traffic safety and efficiency is the urgent problem. As the command information center, VTS can realize the scientific management of vessel traffic through the collection and processing of information to ensure the navigation safety of ships and increase the efficiency of traffic. However, the marine traffic is more and more complex, the higher requirements of VTS and operators are needed, today, VTS training mainly relies on the actual equipment, and training can't be anytime and anywhere, because there's no VTS information simulator achieved by software. The research and simulation can promote technological innovation in this field and provide better conditions for VTS training and experimental teaching.VTS information simulator has two key technologies:one is goal-setting and track analog, the other is source simulation. The actual information source can provide real-time and effective information for VTS to ensure the realization of the VTS function and the smooth communication between ships at sea. The simulation of VTS information source is an important part to achieve VTS simulator and is the basic premise to expand its capabilities.The subject comes from the National Engineering Research center of Maritime Navigation System "VTS information Simulator",the two major sources of VTS radar and AIS information sources are studied and simulated in this paper. For the reasonable and realistic simulation of information sources, firstly, the information content, characteristic and source of the radar and AIS information sources are analyzed. Secondly, the reasons for the errors of information sources are studied with emphasis. And the relationship between errors and number of relevant factors is identified. At the same time, the radar tracking filter model is also studied. Finally, in Visual Studio 2005 development environment, according to the theory, the GPS and radar observation data are simulated and then processed by some methods, the final simulation information of radar and AIS is achieved, so VTS simulator gets the reasonable simulation source.
