With the development of economy, the number of marine vessels is increasing year by year and the world’s major navigation waterways become more crowded. Radar navigation alone can not meet the requirements of the safety of vessel navigation, while the emergence of AIS has brought a great improvement to the marine traffic conditions. The fusion of radar data and AIS data can provide more accurate target information to help ship operators make the right decisions to avoid danger.In order to research and test data fusion algorithms, the same target’s radar data and AIS data need to be simulated. But at present, such kind of comprehensive information simulator is not common. So, this thesis mainly simulates radar information and AIS information of the same target in marine navigation with Visual C++under WINDOWS platform. The accuracy of the data simulation is analyzed through experiment comparisons.Firstly, the moving model of targets on sea surface is studied. Both plane model and ellipsoidal model are established in this thesis, using middle latitude algorithm and Bessel algorithm separately for coordinate transformation. Model parameter calculation is also analyzed. The ellipsoidal model is more accurate but also more complicated and is inconvenient for real-time processing. The plane model is simpler but the accuracy is poor. Through experimental comparisons, error range of different tracks in the plane model is given in the thesis.Radar data and AIS data of the same target are generated at different moment, and sent in different interval of time. So a precision timer is necessary. This thesis studied the conventional timer, the multimedia timer, the high-precision timer and CPU stamp timer of the WINDOWS system. Considering the timing accuracy and system resource usage, multimedia timer is selected for simulating radar target and AIS target data.The graphic display interface of simulation software is also studied. The simulation software can display target status in both true motion display and relative motion display mode. Navigation state of targets can be changed at any time, and radar data and AIS data can be sent through different serial communication port. Finally, data fusion algorithm for radar data and AIS data received by ownship is studied, mainly focus on the temporal and spatial calibration algorithm, track correlation algorithm and track fusion algorithm.The platform of comprehensive maritime navigation information simulation and information processing experiment software is developed with VC++. The performance of the system algorithm has been verified through the experiment.
