In the history of Chinese gardens, Qin and Han Dynasties were in an important stage of generation period, and played a link between the past and the future in the ancient Chinese gardening history. They were in a gradual transition period from the early production and hunting mainly to the late recreation and watching mainly, and formed the ideal garden landscape scheme of"high terraced building","beautiful palace","imitating astronomical phenomena","imitating fairyland"etc. Through the collection and excerpt of ancient and modern literature related content as well as investigated and studied on the spot, and based on the grand history and cultural context of gardens in Qin and Han Dynasties. This article had discussed initially about the common expression form of garden elements in order to have a certain reference to the contemporary scenery and tourist area's construction based on Qin and Han Dynasty cultural background.From the contents, the forms, the concept shows, the gardening practices, the techniques and the materials all had achieved a new level, and truly had our gardening art in nature in Qin and Han gardening landscape. Now the main conclusions are summarized as follows:1. In the garden and architectural spatial shape, the Western Han Dynasty and Qin had the obvious continuous nature. It gradually formed a new landscape architecture pattern of"most of Mountains and Valleys"and"Imperial Park in the Park". The dominant intention which imitated celestial phenomenon to set up palaces continued to develop. The gardening idea of"Great for gardens and high for terraced buildings"had always been permeated.2. In the expression form of garden elements, The"TaiYe pond"in"JianZhang palace"took the lead in creating our country's gardening layout of artificial sceneries named by"one pond surrounded by hills". The methods of water surface separation and division space were imitated by the later generation. It was particular about the combination with the natural landscape and the artificial one, and give full play to the water as a link, in order to form the mountain, the water, the building and the plant quaternity landscape. It payed more attention to the cultivation and application of plants, and reflected the diversity of plant species and plant communities such as the stability of the ecological gardening ideas, so as to create a living environmental green network.3. During this period our gardening technology also had been considerablely and stably developed, especially there were certain innovations in the technology and materials of mountains. The wooden construction system had gradually matured in Han Dynasties, and the structure of bracket set and brick-stone also obtained preliminarily development.
