| The electronic throttle control (ETC)system integrates throttle control,cruise control and idle control into a single actuator directed by a single engine controller. ETC is an ectrordinary tool for enhancing engine and vehicle performance.An intrinsic benefit of the use of ETC is the ability to modify the throttle response to accelerator inputs to more closely match the optimum characteristics. ETC has become the base of the new generatin motomotive electronic control system and wided implemented on popular SUVs and passenger cars.The ETC system features of presise control ability,simple structure and low cost make it a good option to implement the ETC on motorcycle. Therefore, the application of ETC system on motocycle is the main research issue in this paper.First,the ETC system applied on FAI's EFI motorcycle is introduced and the main modules and their functions are described in detail. It also explains the developing process of ETC system,the hardware design of the ETC unit,and the characteristics of stepmotor.Second, the control functions provided by ETC was discussed: cold boot control,air-fuel ratio control,idle control,engine speed governing,cruise control,and the pedal sensitivity selectable performance. The characteristics of these control processes are analyzed , the exact control methods raised ,and the overall throttle control software introduced.Finally,through lots of experiment, the response characteristics of stepmotor and ETC system are tested, the overall control strategy and the realized functions are validated and improved. This study has abtained the throttle control methods aimed at motorcycle and layed the foundation for the implementation of ETC on motorcycle. |
