The Research On The System Of Industrial Design History

In this paper, by analyzing the current study of the history of Industrial Design(ID for short), the author creatively used the method of historical study, therefore advanced a 4D system creatively, which may offer people a thorough understanding of the development and rules of the ID.In this paper, the author introduced the concept and the background of the ID, reviewed the worldwide current study situation and stressed the meaning of the study of ID history. After that, the author pointed out that the domestic study of ID history is still need to be improved and one of the effective means is to adopt the method of historical study, such as the style of Chinese history writing and the modern study way of western history.The author proposed that the study of ID history can not be taken out of the particular historical context, and must be based on the related history of science, economic, culture, arts and social politics. Meanwhile, on the origins and developments of the design and industrial design, the author gave his original ideas.To form a stereoscopic and study system for the study of the history of the industrial design, the author tried to build up a multi dimensional coordinate system. It focused on how to adopt various methods in different coordinate system. The study system includes: to study the role of individuals and companies in the Id history by using case study; to study the evolution of various styles and genres by the vertical study; and to study the process of development of ID in different areas by the horizontal study. Finally, the author designed the method of classification for product design, and then carried out a pilot study on the development of different kinds of products.For this kind of research, it needs lots of resources, so the author tried a lot to get the reliable information through many channels.
