The Approach Study On The Conservation And Tourism Utilization Of Historic Districts

The historic districts are the precious areas as well as the cultural heritage in the process of urban development and historic transforms. The historic vicissitude and the centuries-old culture are recorded on them. The destruction to them will bring the character lost to the city. Nevertheless, there are existing problems in the process of the conservation and tourism utilization, for instance: the destruction to heritage resources of the historic districts; the poor living environment of the residents; the vigor lack of the historic districts; the lack of the industry sustentation in the historic districts and so on. How to conserve and utilize the historic districts and revive the historic districts will turn to be the problems to be solved.The thesis took the experience economy and the tourism development as the chance and background to develop the historic districts tourism utilization, then reviewed the international and domestic historic districts conservation and development process, summed up the seven major problems of the historic districts, brought forward the tourism utilization is the important method and measure to solve the problems mentioned. The thesis systematically analyzed the conservation and the exploiture status of the Shanghai and Suzhou city historic districts, then summarized the value and function of the city historic districts, after epurating the two historic districts' character, the thesis concluded the four principles of the tourism utilization of the historic districts. They are "historic district authenticity retaining", "historic district character protrusion", "the combination of the recreation needs and tourism", and "bilateral promotion between conservation and utilization". The thesis classified the historic districts from the utilization mode and the scale and the character of the districts, brought up the suggestion to the operation measures at the end.
