Although there have been integrated road network in every developed country, traffic congestion is still more and more severe. The pollution and traffic accidents gain more and more attention from people. So we need another solution not only by building more roads and extending the scale of road network. Then Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) is born. ITS will plays an important role in our future life. This thesis introduces the Intelligent Transportation System (ITS), Electronic Toll Collection (ETC) and the Dedicated Short-Range Communication (DSRC) protocol from their origination, basic conception, structure, key technologies and the significance. In another ways, the development, structure and future design of ITS in America, Japan, Europe and the mainland are researched carefully in the thesis. The techniques of DSRC are also introduced. And the author researched the problem about the selection of carrier frequency and the difference between the active and passive style of DSRC.Based on the contents above, the author has done some jobs about the simulation of modulation and demodulation according to the physical layer of DSRC. The author analyses the channel circumstance of DSRC before simulation, then creates the method of simulation and set up the model of it. In the simulation, doppler shift-frequency is considered and compared to the ideal situation. Meanwhile, according to the DSRC protocol, phase modulation is also selected as a modulation style in the future. So it is also simulated in the same way and compared with the ASK modulation on the probability of symbol error to find suitable conditions for every style. The prospect of ITS is given in the end. Its future directions and layouts are described in this part. Because America has been successful in researching ITS benefits, we know it is very useful to help us develop ITS in future. ITS will be our...
