In recent years, with the process of highway extending to Midwest in China, there will be more and more high embankments. Because of the greatly different geological question met in the course of construction of highway in the western and eastern of our country, the experience accumulated in the east can't be simply used in the Midwest. Therefore, to high embankment that Midwest appeared , it is necessary to launch the observation on settlement and the research for settlement law of the high embankments. By means of arranging and analyzing the measured data of the settlement of the high embankments, the late settlement can be forecasted as well as the law of settlement and deform of the can be generalized, and for reasons given above, it can instruct further optimization design, improve relevant construction crafts, and offer directly scientific basis for decision of construction of the highway. Firstly, based on the pre estimate fruit of settlement, a kind of subside predict method integrated Pearl curve and intelligence of the neural network is proposed. In accordance to the principle of displacement decomposition, Pearl curve is adopted to draw the trend of subsiding, and the neural network model of new-type heredity evolving on the basis of the immunity is used to extrapolate the deviation. The new-type intellectual method brought forward above has been proved to be a relatively ideal method to predict the settlement of the high embankments by the actual project and it is worth popularizing and applying this method in the actual project. At the same time, through the comparing the forecast precisions in different time section predicted by methods of hyperbolic, index curve, Pearl curve, grey predict, Pearl neural network predict, Gompertz Curve, it can be drawn that hyperbola and index curve are more suitable for the middle period of about 6 months and Gompertz Curve Method and Pearl neural network method are suitable for the long-term (more than one year) forecast, and forecast precision by each method is contrasted, which can be used for reference in similar project. Upon which, based on recommending ground and embankment the subside mechanism, some characteristics of shape and subside about the high embankment are summarized, which include the influence of different ground soil property, different filled soil and filling height on the subside of the roadbed, by means of arranging and analyzing the subside data of Changzhang and Hengzao highway. Finally, feasibility of red sandstone and high liquid limit clay as filling material of high embankment and the law of settlement are discussed, through the practical application of them in Changzhang and Hengzao highway in Hunan province, and the analysis of the engineering properties, construction method and the measured data of settlement of this two filling material,...
