Calculation on subgrade settlement has always been a difficult problem that puzzles highway engineers and technicians. The accuracy of subgrade settlement will have direct effect on highway construction quality. Accuracy and scientificalness on forecast of subgrade settlement have very important meaning to ensuring stability of roadbed during construction and also post-construction settlemnet. This paper is base on a project named"Badong formationmarl fill high embankment stability and supporting structure study"by CHONGQING communication committee in 2007. It investigates the estimation of integral settlement to FENGYUN highway High embankment and debris retaining dam in following aspects:1.Use gray theory in the estimation of settlement, investigate the circumstances when Original sequence from a non-isochronous, or model accuracy is not enough, and how to process with new information along with continuing estimation on settlement.2.Have representativeness significance selected points curve fitting subsidence prediction, relying on the actual situation in selected works index curve fitting prediction, Asaoka prediction curve fitting method.3.Use plaxis finite element analysis software to do numerical simulation analysis, compare the result of settlement with the estimation based on gray theory and curve fitting.4.Build in door experiment model of high embankment and debris retaining dam centrifugal model test, observe the distortion and settlement of embankment model, at the same time, compare the experiment with estimation based on gray theory, curve fitting and numerical Simulation, then high embankment and debris retaining dam settlement is further evaluated. This paper also expatiates and investigates the monitoring technology and method of subgrade settlementThis paper systematically analyzes the high embankment and debris retaining dam integral settlement from three angles– theory analysis, numerical simulation and model experiment. Some common results are gained to provide more easy method on calculation of subgrade settlement. It also has important meaning to further optimizing on design, arranging more reasonable construction time and expediting project schedule. Meanwhile, the analysis result of this paper also contributes to design and construction of Similar to the civil Engineering.
